Continuous Periphery Partial Denture

A continuous periphery partial denture showing the adjustable VERSACRYL strap.
In cases
where several maxillary teeth remain, but are spread over the arch, conventionally
a metal partial denture is designed, with a horseshoe palate, a number
of metal clasps and many saddle areas, avoiding the existing teeth, thereby
causing food traps.
By completely
changing that design, a superior partial can be constructed. Without placing
any clasps at all on the buccals of the teeth, construct an acrylic partial
denture and create a VERSACRYL strap, approx. 5 mm wide, connecting all the
saddle extensions and forming a continuous upper periphery, as if it were
a full upper denture.
The patient
must warm the peripheral area, dry the denture and insert while conforming
the periphery into the sulcus area, using finger pressure and suction.
When cooled down to body temperature the denture will stay into place.
If necessary, VERSACRYL interproximal cushions can be added to increase retention.
If indicated, metal can be used on the palate (open palate design is recommended)
and only in passive lingual areas. No metal clasps: VERSACRYL will take care
of the retention!
