VERSACRYL Stressbreaker

When a bilateral partial denture needs to be constructed onto vertical slot attachments, situated on the distal aspect of cuspids or bicuspids, a very efficient and economical stressbreaker can be created, using an internal VERSACRYL cushion.

The denture is constructed with conventional pink denture acrylic, butt joint to the distal wall of the abutment crown. Separately the male portion of the semi-precision attachment is cast with a retentive tail, well below the occlusal surface and approx. ½ inch or 13 mm long. To install the male attachment part, a horizontal cavity is drilled into the denture, wherein the tail of the male will fit. Create a 1 to 1 ½ mm space all around the tail to accommodate a soft VERSACRYL layer, and leave at least a 2 to 3 mm space above the retentive tail for internal movement.

The partial denture is now securely attached, and will be able to receive vertical pressure, without exercising stress on the abutment teeth.
