A VERSACRYL Tissue Clasp
Construct
the denture with conventional pink denture acrylic (combined with a passive
metal framework, if indicated), except where there is a favorable undercut
in the tissues. A finger-shaped VERSACRYL extension is designed and incorporated
in that area.
In this application, we take advantage of VERSACRYL's memory, by blocking
out the undercuts and polymerizing the clasp in the open position. This
way, when the clasp is heated, it will automatically open up, avoiding
the undercuts and allow easy entry and removal of the partial denture.
To insert, the patient runs hot tap water on the tissue clasp for 20 seconds.
The memory will force the clasp into the open position. Without delay,
the patient places the denture fully into the mouth and uses finger pressure
to gently push and hold the clasp into the tissue undercut until cooled.
The partial denture is now mechanically locked into place. To remove,
the patient rinses with warm water around the clasp area in the mouth.
The memory will open the clasp and the denture can be released freely.
