VERSACRYL Applications on Dentures
With this new element of control, also comes some responsibility and it
is important to understand some of the properties of the material, before
manipulating the adjustable parts.
The 4 properties working together, allow VERSACRYL to become incredibly versatile
and it can be applied in many ways never accomplished in the dental field
before:
- Acrylic:
the same material all dentures are made of, so it will chemically integrate
without seams or edges
- Thermo-elastic:
it will soften in warm water
- Consistency-controllable:
depending on the function, the hardness can be determined ahead of time
- Memory:
it will always automatically return to its original shape
VERSACRYL softens
under hot tap water and can be inserted and adapted to the mouth. It will
cool to body temperature and take on the desired rigidity to fulfill its
new function. This process can be repeated thousands of times to ensure
complete comfort. Remember never to move VERSACRYL parts without heating them.
Depending
on which part of the denture needs adjustability, the consistency of VERSACRYL
can be pre-determined to furnish a complete range of rigidities: from
hard to very soft when heated. In the mouth, at body temperature, the
softest VERSACRYL applications will be like yielding cushions, conforming
to the gums.
In addition,
VERSACRYL possesses an internal memory, which maintains a stable reference
point, since it can always be returned to its original shape, when heated.
This concept
also sports another development, called: VERSACRYL-Lock. These cleverly designed
"wings", fit under the tongue, on the inside walls of a lower
denture and they are made of the same thermo-adjustable material. VERSACRYL-Lock
will stabilize even the most disruptive lower denture, without causing
any discomfort.
