VERSACRYL SELF-CURE LABORATORY KIT

To apply self-cure VERSACRYL chairside:

  1. always trim away at least 1- 1,5 mm of pink denture acrylic
  2. slope and sharpen the edges and roughen the surface
  3. prime well with monomer on a brush, preferably twice
  4. mix self-cure VERSACRYL following enclosed instructions
  5. while still thin, quickly apply a layer of material on all contact areas
  6. slowly add more to the first layer, as the material gels
  7. shape with an instrument or damp glove
  8. insert, mould and check the bite, wait again for a short time
  9. carefully remove appliance once material is tough enough
  10. cure in a pressure unit and finish as usual

A small pressure-processing unit with a screw-down lid is available and does not need added compressed air.

DIRECTIONS FOR MIXING

The Lab kit contains 2 liquids and 2 powder :

  • 1 bottle of Softener
  • 1 bottles of self-cure Hardener
  • 1 jar of polymer pink powder
  • 1 jar of polymer clear powder

Following is a suggested schedule to mix the two liquids, in order to obtain the rigidity required for the application:

Application Drops %
  S H S H
l
Temp Repair 4 16 20% 80%
Friction Clasp 3 6 35% 65%
Periphery undercut 10 10 50% 50%
Gasket Clasp 6 2 75% 25%
Interproximals 8 2 80% 20%
Tissue Conditioner 20 3 90% 10%

In a small mixing cup, add

  1. from the Softener bottle, the amount of drops indicated in column S
  2. from the Hardener bottle, the amount of drops indicated in column H
  3. stir both liquids together for about 10 seconds
  4. from the polymer container, stir while vibrating, add 1.5 parts of powder to
1 part liquid, by weight (until the mixture is a very light creamy consistency)

Quickly apply the thin mixture to the existing roughened and monomer-primed acrylic.
The more Hardener there is used in the mixture, the more rigid the end result becomes. If the obtained rigidity is not satisfactory, the amount of drops can be modified, but always adjust the liquid with the highest amount of drops.

Pink or clear powder can be used depending on the application. Clear Versacryl in visible buccal tooth areas can be made almost invisible by high-shining the outside and pin-blasting or roughening the inside areas. The two powders may be mixed to obtain a lighter, more translucent colour.
