VERSACRYL SELF-CURE Versacryl Reline Kit
This unique product has been developed to create thermo-adjustable relines.
Imagine having the luxury to simply heat the denture and re-adjust the
fit in seconds? And if not satisfactory, it can be repeated to ensure
complete comfort for the patient.
VERSACRYL RELINE
softens in warm water and has a flexibility range between 50 and 95 degrees
Celsius.
This product
is not a common "soft reline" material, though at body temperature
it has a cushiony effect, while when heated it becomes very soft and adaptable
to soft tissues and teeth, over and over again (at room temperature the
reline will feel relatively hard to the touch).
To add a
reline at chairside:
- trim
at least 2mm off the denture
- roughen
and prime well with monomer, preferably twice
- mix VERSACRYL
following enclosed directions
- quickly
apply a thin layer while still very liquid
- build
up evenly, seal the edges well and wait for VERSACRYL to gel
- place
in mouth, check bite and muscle mould
remove
denture within 20 seconds, cure in pressure cooker and finish.
DIRECTIONS FOR MIXING
The Reline kit contains 2 liquids and 2 powders:
- 2 bottles of Pre-mixed Self-Cure Reline Liquid
- 2 jars of polymer powder
Powder liquid
ratio: between 1,5 to 2 parts powder : 1 part liquid, by weight. Determine
whether the reline may be considered small, medium or large.
Using the
measuring cups, dispense:
Small reline
5ml liquid = 3 grams to 7ml powder = 5 grams
Medium reline 7ml liquid = 4.5 grams to 10ml powder = 7 grams
Large reline 10ml liquid = 7 grams to 17ml powder = 11 grams
Measuring
is most precise with an electronic weight scale, following the above ratios.
To achieve
the best results, same as for acrylics in general, heat cure is always
recommended over self-cure, because it produces a more complete and stable
polymerization, giving the appliance a more impervious surface and therefore
a longer lifespan.
To protect the self-cure from oral acids, coat the reline with a commercial
ketone sealing agent (example: Perma-Seal by Meyerson).
The self-cure
is polymerized in a pressure cooker in lukewarm water at 20 to 25 psi
for at least 20 minutes.
