INSTRUCTIONS to use VERSACRYL-Lock Wings
To
prepare the denture:

Cut
2 vertical slots each 7mm wide in both lingual flanges, so that the
larger curved ends of the Versa-Locks are situated below the cuspids
and point forward (see illustration). Using soft carding wax, secure the Versa-Locks into the approximate, but horizontal position. |
Position VERSACRYL-Lock Wings:
The practitioner places the prepared denture into the patient's mouth. Adjust the position of the Versa-Locks bringing them into the neutral zone, between the floor of the mouth and the tongue. Adjust until the patient feels comfortable, making sure the Versa-Locks remain in a horizontal plane.
Carefully remove the denture and secure the VERSACRYL-Lock wings in their new position with hard wax or glue.
Send to the laboratory for processing and finishing.
Laboratory procedure:
Fill in the bottom seams with wax, creating a strong rounded support,
which will reinforce the Versa-Locks and prevent the weight of the tongue
from pushing them downwards.
Place some plaster on the bench and lightly flatten the top surface with
a spatula.
Place the lower denture horizontally onto the plaster surface and press
down until the VERSACRYL-Lock wings are fully supported by the plaster.
After setting, boil out the wax and clean the vertical slots and the ends
of the Versa-Locks.
Roughen and prime all bonding areas well with VERSACRYL Hardener.
Re-assemble the components, filling the vertical slots completely, using
a VERSACRYL Self Cure mixture consisting of 20% Softener to a 80% Hardener
and a powder ratio of 1 part liquid to 1 ½ parts powder.
Process under pressure and finish as usual.
Polishing:
A VERSACRYL-Lock assembly can be polished carefully, similar to any acrylic
finishing procedure.
To prevent the polishing brushes from catching, the following method may
be used:
Place the denture in near boiling water for 20 seconds, remove from water
and completely flatten the wings upwards against the lingual wall with
both thumbs. Cool for 5 seconds under cold water.
The denture can now be polished with pumice and hi-shine, without catching
in the brushes.
To complete polishing, place denture in near boiling water again for 20
seconds, the wings will return to horizontal position. Remove and flatten
wings downward this time. Cool and finish polishing as before.
When you are finished, place the denture in hot water for 20 seconds and
the VERSACRYL-Lock wings will return to the horizontal position.
Adjusting
permanently installed VERSACRYL-Lock Wings:
VERSACRYL-Lock wings are manufactured with a mixture of 50% VERSACRYL
Softener and 50% VERSACRYL Hardener. Once they are permanently installed,
the patient can warm and horizontally adjust the VERSACRYL-Lock wings,
whenever they desire.
The harder VERSACRYL mixture, holding the Versa-Locks in the vertical slots,
allows the practitioner to make some degree of vertical adjustment outside
of the mouth. Such adjustments require immersing the denture in almost
boiling water for at least 30 seconds, quickly repositioning using a blunt
instrument, and cooling immediately under running water, to retain the
corrected position.
Final
Fit and Patient at home adjustment procedure:
Immerse and soak the VERSACRYL-Lock wings in near boiling water for 20 seconds.
Quickly dry the denture and place into the mouth.
Close the mouth and swallow 3-4 times consecutively.
The VERSACRYL-Lock wings will adjust themselves, forming the ideal shape for
comfort and stability.
This procedure can be repeated as often as necessary, until the desired
level of comfort is attained.
DO NOT MOVE VERSACRYL-Lock WINGS WHILE UNHEATED,
BREAKAGE MAY OCCUR!
