Instructions To Construct An Adjustable VERSACRYL Postdam

A thermo-adjustable VERSACRYL postdam incorporated into an upper denture
Each VERSACRYL
Laboratory kit contains:
- VERSACRYL
Softener monomer
- VERSACRYL
Hardener monomer
- VERSACRYL
powder polymer
- In a small
jar first mix Softener and Hardener and stir for 10 seconds. The recommended
proportion for a postdam is: 20% Softener to 80% Hardener at
a standard thickness of 1.5 mm. In the instructions, the ratios are
expressed in 'drops' of each liquid.
- Slowly
add the VERSACRYL powder while stirring, until the consistency is light
creamy (approx. 1.5 parts powder to 1 part liquid).
- Two methods
to construct a VERSACRYL postdam:
- Double-pack
heat-cure into a new denture:
flask, remove wax and pack denture with pink acrylic using a polyvinyl
sheet. Press and re-open flask. Cut away the pressed postdam area creating
a void of at least 10mm wide in the middle and repack with the VERSACRYL
mixture. Close flask, final press and process as usual.
- Self-cure
onto a new or existing denture:
cut back and prepare the surfaces by roughening and priming with Hardener
using a brush. Quickly apply the creamy VERSACRYL mixture to all contact
areas, then add and shape the bulk as it slowly starts to gel. Process
as usual in a pressure cooker.
