Instructions To Construct An Adjustable VERSACRYL Postdam

Each VERSACRYL Laboratory kit contains:

  • VERSACRYL Softener monomer
  • VERSACRYL Hardener monomer
  • VERSACRYL powder polymer
  1. In a small jar first mix Softener and Hardener and stir for 10 seconds. The recommended proportion for a postdam is: 20% Softener to 80% Hardener at a standard thickness of 1.5 mm. In the instructions, the ratios are expressed in 'drops' of each liquid.

  2. Slowly add the VERSACRYL powder while stirring, until the consistency is light creamy (approx. 1.5 parts powder to 1 part liquid).

  3. Two methods to construct a VERSACRYL postdam:
  • Double-pack heat-cure into a new denture: flask, remove wax and pack denture with pink acrylic using a polyvinyl sheet. Press and re-open flask. Cut away the pressed postdam area creating a void of at least 10mm wide in the middle and repack with the VERSACRYL mixture. Close flask, final press and process as usual.

  • Self-cure onto a new or existing denture: cut back and prepare the surfaces by roughening and priming with Hardener using a brush. Quickly apply the creamy VERSACRYL mixture to all contact areas, then add and shape the bulk as it slowly starts to gel. Process as usual in a pressure cooker.
