Non-Dental Applications

'Non-dental' applications truly open up a phenomenal scope of possibilities, because each application creates a new product with no competition. But so far, they just remain concepts; none of these applications have actually been developed into marketable products yet. But, if more than 60 uses can be found in the dental field alone, imagine the amount of applications that are possible in all other industries combined. This goldmine is uncharted.

Following are some examples of products we already pinpointed
and/or prototyped:

Dental: for the first time in history, dentures can be refitted by the
consumer at home in minutes. More than 60 applications are possible.

Skate Sole

Sports Equipment: custom-fitted parts on running shoes, bicycle seats, scuba equipment, etc. Inserts in skates (see photo below) or ski boots, forever adjustable with warm water or a hairdryer. Fishing lures that can be bent in different angles. Also, repair kit for polyethylene water vessels, canoes, pedal boats, etc.

Customized Tools and Instruments: The hand tool industry could benefit from the plastics ability to make a custom grip possible. Also, many people, because of injury, disease, or simply the effects of old age, have problems gripping standard household items.

Handle

Mouldable Grips: customized finger- or handgrips to create grips on racquets (tennis, squash, table tennis), bats (see photo below), clubs, handle bar grips, precision instruments (surgeons, watchmakers), camera grips, hammers, exercisers, garden tools, steering wheels, gearshift knobs, rifles, even a shapeable computer mouse, etc.

Medical: specialty moulds that can repeatedly be reshaped or adapted, for arthritic hands or head fittings for brain scans, radiation treatments, MRIs etc.

Orthotics: are custom-made shoe inserts that help make standing, walking, and running more comfortable. The inserts can be placed in hot water or a hot air stream, remolded by the individual to the desired shape and left to cool. They can be remolded as many times as needed to accommodate the changes that are occurring in the patient’s feet.

Eye Wear: the optical industry can customize the fit of nose pads and earpieces on corrective eyeglass or sunglass frames and leave final adjustments up to the wearer.

Hearing Aids: Audiologists are always looking for new technologies and materials to improve upon the fit and service of the hearing aid. Each ear differs. This acrylic could customize this fit as never before, setting the new standard in yet another multi-million dollar industry.

Medical Prostheses: Custom-made prosthetic devices can be made that are both economical and versatile. Prosthetic devices can be mass-produced to standard sizes and yet customized for each individual user by molding the prosthetic in hot water. The material will help increase the lifespan of the products and reduce costs at the same time. Orthopedic mouldable prosthetics, such as braces, splints, artificial limbs or any other orthopedic support, would become adaptable to the body or to a wheelchair. Orthopedic and Prosthetic markets are projected to grow so fast that even with a 20 percent increase in the number of certified care providers, only 65 percent of the population's needs will be met.

Chiropractic Splints:
Splints made with this acrylic can be constantly adjusted to progressively increase the amount of tension applied to soft tissue surrounding a joint. The adjustment process only requires that the splint be heated in hot water, then bent to the desired angle and left to cool before the patient puts the splint back on the body. Also, special hinges for joint management

Veterinary: repair cracked hoofs on cattle or horses.

Toys: all kinds of gadgets could be created to amuse children.
Adult toys: no comment.

Morphing: the material has the capability to morph from one shape into another using heat.

Custom Furniture and Sculpture: scale model sculpture has shown great potential, as this technology is being used to customize a new artistic line of contemporary furniture. This approach is expected to revolutionize the industry in comfort and design. As a sculptural material, this acrylic is an unexplored art form.

Hardware: harder applications of the acrylic can be used to retain fasteners and to thread or rethread screws.

ABS Fitting

Plumber’s Material: because it will chemically bond to ABS and CPVC pipe, fill gaps or repair cracks on plumbing pipes, elbows, threads, joints, etc.

Polymerization of the self-cure at ambient air, the chemical bonding abilities to plastics and the toughness would make an exceptionally versatile repair material in the field, without the need of any special equipment.

Creative Household Hobby / Repair Kit: one could resort to hundreds of convenient uses around the house or hobby shop.

Packaging Material: shaped strips could be warmed and fitted
to protect delicate objects against damage

A Relay Switch: using electricity, an internal resistant would activate the memory and move the contact, without relying on bi-metals.

Non-dental applications truly open up a phenomenal scope of possibilities and we are ready to explore and pursue every worthwhile suggestion.
